Have you noticed this about creativity?

Keep this in mind today!

Our oldest child, Blake, graduated college. 🎓

3 days before his first birthday, a surgeon told us Blake had a 50% chance of living. The surgeon also said that if Blake were to survive, he'd have significant hurdles to face. 19 years later, our miraculously healed young man is earning his Business Entrepreneurship diploma 2 years early.

Blake's life is a miracle, and it's such a privilege to be his mom. God has been faithful beyond my wildest dreams.

As a graduation gift, Chris and I wrote notes to Blake about life lessons we've learned over the years. I want to share one of those life lessons with you today.

Thoughts on Creativity

Creativity can be very elusive. It will hide if you try to force it. Instead, initiate a rhythm of rest in your life so that your creative mind can serve you well when you need it.

Forced creativity is fake, but the ideas that a rested soul bring forth are the best types of ideas to run with and pursue.

We are creative because our God is creative. His example can inspire us to dream, be open to new possibilities, and look for solutions.

Seeing the creativity in others can lead us to worship God, the Author of all beautiful ideas.

Let's do a little coaching on these thoughts around creativity:

  • Where might you be forcing creativity today?

  • What could shifting out of high gear and down into a restful gear do for your problem-solving capacity?

  • When did you last witness creativity that led you to worship God?
