What Would it Take?

Think of the thing you avoid achieving.

You know exactly what I'm referring to.

It's the first thing that came to mind when you read the first line of this email, and it's the thought you shove out of your mind when it pops up. (I'm speaking from experience. )

Maybe your thing is...

  • That physical feat (mountain climbing?).

  • That financial goal (pay off your mortgage?).

  • That aspirational goal (have a calm dinner with your busy teens?).

The other day a brilliant coaching friend of mine said...

"I have what it takes...if only I'd do what it takes."

Her words stuck with me!

I think what she said relates exactly to the thing you want to do but are avoiding doing.

So let's get crystal clear and push back against your resistance.

What exactly would it take do reach your goal?

Be specific.

  • Do you need 30 minutes alone every day for cardio?

  • Maybe you need to commit to a budget or cut back on eating out one night a week.

  • Would you reach your goal if you found one night that worked for the family to have dinner together, asked them all to commit to being there, and expressed why having dinner together matters to you?

The gap between where you are today and what you want has a lot less to do with being capable and a lot more to do with identifying what it'd take to get there.

So what happens when you identify what it would take?

Well, you do it.

Dare to live the life you want to live.
