Just Between Us

Hey there!

Truth time. Have you ever tried to find peace for your life in temporary solutions?

Several years ago, I was overwhelmed with my responsibilities at a demanding job, as well as challenges in our family. We took a trip to Florida where I just knew I’d find solace in the sunshine and sand. When we arrived and I finally stopped, I was overwhelmed with anxiety. What was supposed to be a relaxing vacation with my favorite people, was in fact crushing.

For real, taking baby steps isn’t easy. You want ease and empowerment, so you figure, “Hey, I’ll just make a few changes,” but you wind up looking to the wrong places to find what you need.

Rather than being life-giving, the changes you’ve made are only temporary. Or, they bring even more stress.

I recently finished a round of coaching with Amanda. I helped her gain tools to bring greater peace to her life. We defined her ideal self, recognized what was giving and taking her energy, and helped her integrate her actions with her values. She said God used our time together to bring transformation to her life. She found personal and professional growth!

Since then, a few more people have shared their stories.

The thing is, nearly everyone looks to the wrong things to find contentment. It’s not just you.

AND, nearly everyone can find greater empowerment and fulfillment when they learn to align their actions with their values.

Maybe it makes you think I’ve lost my marbles. And that might actually be true — but here’s why you STILL need to consider what you’re looking to for rest. Our peace and rest often don’t come from the places we expect. God tells us in Isaiah 40:31 that true empowerment is found in Him:

but those who hope in the Lord

will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint.
